A small river we were forced to cross because the teachers in Pinotepa are on strike. For the last ten years the teachers of Pinotepa have used this badly planned strategy to forward their cause. Result two hours lost and thousands of people are now against the demands of the teachers. The line of blocked traffic we ran into was 10 km long. Not 0ne person was sympathetic to the teachers demands. We decided to explore the beach roads. After 10 years you would think they would try a different strategy.
My adventures. Not all of them of course.

Hiding from the Narcos in Mexico
In spite of the news, business forced me to cross into Mexico via Reynosa Tam. The third most dangerous city in the world. All went smooth. Things appear a bit slow and the traffic at an all time low. No gunshots. No Menacing Zetas. Just business as usual. As usual, the only criminals we encountered were the police. Go Chapo!
Three Days in the Narco Battle of Northern Mexico.
The Score as computed in money spent:
Gas $1200 pesos. 3 tanks
Bribes: $1000 Pesos. 3 cops.
Should we be surprised that so many police are being killed in Mexico?

Camp one
So far so good. Nice roads to camp 2 - Poet Cr. Camp 1 at Upper Gospel Lake was a cold lightning show. Good fishing. Good dry and dusty riding to here.

Idaho Dirt
Riding around the heart of the Idaho Wilderness.
We will start in Garden Valley. I'm riding a borrowed and pimped KTM Adventure 640. Cynthia has a stock Super Sherpa. The trip starts with 15 miles of paved road to the 555. Then it's seven days of dirt, forest and wilderness. We will climb up to the Deadwood and onward to Warm Lake. Destination for the day: McCall. We will meet with Ann and Mark and Pork Chop. Mark is on a KTM 950. Ann, another Super Sherpa but water cooled. Pork Chop -- I don't know.
Next morning its over Warren Wagon and Burgdorf and down French Creek to the Salmon River. Up and out of the canyon via Alison Creek and over to Hungry Ridge dropping into Golden Canyon on the S. Fk. Clearwater to Elk City. From there it's into the gap between the Selway Bitterroot wilderness and the Gospel Hump Wilderness -- the MacGruder Corridor.
The corridor will take us across the central mountains of Idaho and the Selway River. We will hit Montana and a brief bit of blacktop. A quick visit to civilisation to restock ourselves in Darby.
Here our route turns back south and down through painted rocks to Shoup on back to the Salmon River. We will head downstream a bit and turn up Panther Creek winding along the Big Horn Craigs. Our path follows the west side of the Salmon river mountains and The Frank Church Wilderness. A brief bit of blacktop in Challis and then up and over to Loon Creek and onward to Seafoam.
From Seafoam we will head to Bruce Meadows. We will complete the loop on the headwaters of the Deadwood River. Cynthia and I will turn south and back to GV. Ann, Mark and Pork Chop will continue on to McCall and New Meadows.
