Rio Sereno Panama

Borders are difficult in central america. The lines, the inefficiency, and the corruption are enough to push my protestant soul to the boiling point. The "helpers" are The problem. Generated by the lack of information on the process (could it occur to post a sign!?) and the language border. The result corruption graft and frustration.

This isn't the case in Nicaragua . Rio Sereno was serene and a joy the paperwork fast and easy, but the ride best yet in central America

The Motos

Cynthia has a 2007 dr 650. Stock other than some racks I built. Kenda tires. 54H. It´s been lowered using the stock Suzuki shock mount and sliding the forks up about an inch. A big difference. And the kickstand has been chopped.

Mine is a 2006 dr 650 with a FMF Q2 pipe. The air box has been opended and the needle shimmed or raised a notch. Kenda tires and an IMS tank.

So here it is -- I feel guilty. We have done nothing to these bikes other than change the oil and lube the chains. Other than that is -- fill it with gas and twist the throttle. No problems so far. Just dependable and fast and solid. Go Suzuki!

Hidden Bay in Michoacan

Riding in Michoacan. good roads on a very curvy coastline. Almost no Traffic. Hot and Sunny. Dream Riding for Motos. It was the same in Jalisco. wide new roads without traffic. Winding through the forests and mountains. Very calm and secure. do it.

Baja Map

Ver Baja Mexico en un mapa más grande
Our Route through Baja. I rode baja with Phil Benham. A friend of my brother and a baja vet. He knows the roads and routes. Cynthia flew into Cabo.

the Gas stations seem to be off about 20% on a level pint. To their favor of course.

Gasoline in Mexico. no problem on gas stations. we ran out of gas twice. our own fault. but we have a sig bottle that gets you an extra 15 miles. then I can disconnect the fuel line on my bike and share with the smaller tank on Cynthias bike.

the one problem is we continually put between 9 and 10 gallons in the two bikes that have a combined capacity of 8 gallons. so it is a 20 percent cheat on the gas pumps. of course this guy makes his own rules.

All of baja is a bit of a rip. everything is overpriced and many people are jaded. just bargain a little harder and choose who you hang with.
